This is why guest posting has been suspended I suspect.

I also suspect that the forum moderator(s) do this as a service for free, meaning they don't get paid, all voluneer work usually.

Thanks Bill - that is correct. And very sorry for the slow response in removing the junk.

Hi Jeff,

No problem, been working online in your capacity for a really long time...like 15 years. Still run the aged and failing AOL sailing forum

Sorry---I didn't mean to sound impatiant. Your work is very much appreciated.
I just spent quite a few hours salvaging my computer at work from a particularly virulent piece of adware that I managed to pick up despite my extreme care in what I download. Some of this stuff is just evil and I have little tolerance for these vultures that design and implement it.

Hi DGreenwood

I was also pestered by this plague, regardless of firewalls, anti virus programs & spam blockers.
I found an excellent solution. Got rid of Microsoft's Internet Explorer and loaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

I am in nirvana, this browser is fast, totally immune to spam, popups etc etc. and to boot it all, a bigger "screen".

Best of all it is free.

Firefox 1.0

I agree with Wynand N - I've been using Firefox for a couple of months now and am impressed. I've gone through the websites I have designed/maintain and made sure they are Firefox compatible. I still use IE to view websites that are designed by people who don't know about W3C standards (and therefore don't view well in anything else but IE). Firefox takes a little getting used to and there are some things it won't do - but these are security issue areas and shouldn't be done anyway. IE now has less than 85% of the browser useage, down from the 94% of November, 2004.

I use it almost half a year now, from its beta version onwards. I try to get rid of everything that is made by microsoft.
I have expelled Word and replaced that by Open Office; IE by Firefox and any other application that comes along and can replace Microsoft elements will be used. It is Microsoft that causes all side effects as spyware etc. because they produce those programs and selling them along.
MSN I still use, but now I have Skype for voice transmitting communication; works excellent - 10 times better than MSN, when it works at all.

Naaah...Microsoft is not the devil. It is just the biggest target, by far. Why go after an OS, browser or software that is used by a tiny fraction of the market. The guys that design the adware, worms, viruses, and hack are not stupid...just ignorant. When another OS gets as big then it will be the target---no matter if it was designed by angels from heaven.

Firefox comments

I also support the positive views on firefox - now been using it for a year and in addition to security benefits, best things are no popups and browsing with multiple tabs.

Hope this helps anybody trying to decide whether or not to move from IE.

True in a certain sense, but... Microsoft has lost 10% of the browser market in 3 months (this is based on counters I have on websites that I have designed and maintain, and they're not "teckie" sites). Firefox is "open" source code. This means rapid response to bugs - like within a day or two - unlike IE which must wait for orders from "higher" up to have problems resolved. The bottom line is "whatever you are comfortable with". Firefox, and any plugins you wish to add, is FREE. But it is YOUR choice (as well as the choice to put up with spyware, viri, Trojan horses, etc.).
