Summary Judgement-no redress

I recently had a comment I made regarding a World Champion removed with this inserted in its place:
<mod note: this line has been removed due to complaint from person being paraphrased that paraphrase was not accurate>Now, I take great pride in getting my facts correct and do meticulous research. I don't think it is fair to summarily remove a comment of mine without giving me a chance to prove that I was right. If I screwed up then I would gladly apologize. But to have a summary judgement made based on another persons word with no chance of redress is wrong, in my humble opinion.

Well, you paraphrased rather than quoting someone, and that person complained that you paraphrased them falsely/incorrectly.

Why not give me an opportunity to answer that "charge" before assuming the other person to be correct?

With the source denying saying exactly what you say they said, it would have to be overwhelming evidence which I don't think would be possible.

You are free to edit the posts in question and remove the note and replace it with an exact quote. As long as the quote is not out of context, truncated, or altered, I would have no issue with that.

BTW Doug, you were the victim of a maliciously edited "quote" some time back, so you should know the danger

While it is acceptable to edit a quote for brevity, what is left should be absolutely verbatim, including case and color, even the typos, and the deleted text should be indentified with an ellipsis symbol such as ... or ***

I think this should be added to the guidelines.
