Page Selection on Thread Index Page

    For threads that have more than 10 pages of replies the index page will allow a reader to select from the first 10 pages, plus a 'Last Page'. So the index page might look like this:

    THREAD TITLE
    (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ... Last Page)

    It seems to me that anyone who is following such an extensive thread will seldom be interested in the earlier pages, having probably already read them, but might be interested in some of the later pages, in addition to the last page. I was wondering if the index page could be modified to show the last five pages, plus a scattering of the first pages -- something like is shown in the header of the rest of the thread pages, perhaps like this:

    THREAD TITLE
    (First 10 20 30 40 55 56 57 58 59)
