wax removal

I have been told never to use a mechanical polisher to remove wax in a mold, can anyone tell me if there has been any technological break through in this tough Thanks

 

Remove wax from the mold? Why? Do you mean removing wax from the laminate after it's removed from the mold?

I think it would depend on the type of polisher. Most people use a polisher and finish by hand if a really high quality is needed.

 

I don't know anyone that uses a polisher for waxing a mold.

This doesn't mean someone doesn't do it, only that when I travel with the mold release reps they all say NO.

 

Are you referring to a polisher that looks like a grinder or the small orbital ones with terry cloth used to spread wax?

 

The question asked was about removing wax with a polisher. No type of mechanical polisher is recommended by any mold release supplier that I know of.

Thanks guys I have always done it by hand, as the machine heat the surface,, I have a new hull mold coming along and I was hoping I would not have to buy any more Advil thank I normally keep on hand !
