| Help for use of eastern cedar end-grain for core I work on a boat building and I think use Eastern cedar (Thuya occidentakis) end-grain for core in my fiberglass hull. The cedar is 0.3 density instead 0.1-0.17 for the Balsa. The cedar is almost rot proof. Does somebody try this? What do you think about that? I have access to a lot of low-cost cedar but I need to make the end-grain myself. Thanks Jean-Francois Blouin |

| I'm sure it would work, but have you priced available core materials? Making your own end grain core would be a huge amount of work for not a heck of alot of gain. Remember the hull is a very small percentage of the cost of a boat, the core is a tiny percentage. Bill H. |
