a thought during the building process!

Any one building boats to sail offshore would usually carry a radar reflector so they can be seen by ships and in the case of lost at sea be spotted by A search plane .
I was fortunate to make a couple of 22foot high speed tunnels boats for a couple of guys that belonged to the coast guard . In each boat deck and the topsides of the hull the first layer of glass behind the gelcoat had aluminum coating on the glass !!
Its a tissue and is easy to lay at the same time as the first csm gets laid .
The end result was not a bleep on the radar but it glowed from a long long way off and in the case of the tests done by the search and rescue aircfaft it was spotted immediatly on the edge of there screen .

So food you thought !!

The tissue was origanally used in the plastics industry for sheilding inside the plastic casings of some computer parts .
Have also heard of using aluminum fileings mixed with resin to get a simular effect .
Not only need to be seen from ablove but also at sea level to .

At the time of building i was very septical abot the whole deal but a while later i heard of others doing a simular thing as i said with fileings . The other spin off was less radio interferance from other equipment . Dont know about a compass but ? most people have gps and radar and sounders and all manner of electrical goodies anyway .
The picture was the slightly bigger brother of the same design , twin 200 yamaha"s a big cockpit and a really exciting boat to drive !

Yeah same sort of thing but not to the amount they would use . Made vac forming moulds for acrylic sheet and they had the same as what you have listed . The tissue was readerly availible so thats the reason it was used . in our case .

The reasoning for the powder are the other ones rather than the radar reflection ability (It enhances the impact and compressive strength) So it would be only an additional advantage (or disadvantage )

"Dont know about a compass but ? "..........alloy mate, so it will not have any affect at all.......unless of course it was a Kiwi compass, then there may be some deviation....

There are other materials we use in boatbuilding wich could be used for that

I believe the world is flat !! AND i never sail out of sight of land . Dont need a compass !
