Stringers on a 3250 Bayliner Hi gang. Im new here and this is our third Bayliner I have restored and also the biggest project to date. My original stringers are 1 11/16 thick and the closest material I have found is 1 1/2 thick I have found 24' fir material for replacment stringers I like using west system so Im asking procedures here to fill the void. ie what fibreglass, Mat or roving, Should I build up the stringer before insertion to the pocket. Should I use epoxy or resin etc. Here is a link to what I have done so far. http://www.baylinerownersclub.org/fo...ad.php?t=28889 Also some photos here http://rides.webshots.com/album/569380163igEwlI Cheers Michael

Hi Boston Thanks for the reply All of the mills around here do not have the 21' length that I require except for one place but thier stock is 1 1/2 so in order to keep with not having to splice III think I will have to build up one side of the stringer with roving to make up the 3/16

scarf joints if done properly are about as strong as the unbroken wood might be a good time to learn how if you want to get creative you can order a microlam in what ever length you want its like a giant piece of plywood and comes in the thickness you are talking about used for structural beams in construction ask the yard about nominal sizes and you will find one at 7/4 or 1 3/4" best B
