Nah, syndrome is kinda victomesque, ya gotta get over it & move on, its all about repair & recovery & moving forward to new fresh horizons, shiney & new, strait off the shelf & send the old stuff to sCrap, melt it down to a lovely fresh renewal, hows that sound?. I'm not a surveyor as such but my employer contracts to & gets me to observe & record what I find in that regard, dont worry about the expense, we'll all pay a little every week to help out & replacing the weakest links is way cheaper than the possible consequenses. All the best from Jeff.
