| Spray painting tips Hello I am getting close to needing to put on some topcoat on a 19ft trailer sailer cat. I can spray paint two pack primer (I sand off the runs) but wonder if anyone has sprayed their own boat and found it okay to do. If so are there any good sites out there that deal with how to spray boats. I have been involved with building two large multis and have helped the painters spray the boats. AmI leaving myself open to massive failure if I do it myself. BTW i think I will be using a non linear polyurethane so I can buff it and do some changes as the boat may be modified if required. cheers Phil Thompson |

| a method that works well, especially in less than ideal shop conditions is to spray your full base coat, let it cure,,,,then light wetsand with ~#220grit,,then spray clearcoat.Although it seems like a lot of extra work,,it lets you relax about imperfections,,,gives a much shorter final tack time, since you're only doing a quick light clearcoat,,and pretty much garauntees ultimate gloss. |
