I missed out on the small drama of late September. I have 2 questions: How long has the last layer of paint been left to cure, and what type of paint was used? (acrylic, polyurethane)

We used 545 as the release coat. Then cleaned, sealed and put on 4 or 5 passes with Chemlease release agent. (Not ever using that stuff again.)

Our vendor said they could get Loctite FMS/FMR for us but didn't. He claimed ChemLease would work as well....

Switched back to Loctite.

For tooling I would definately let the paint cure for a week or more, then apply a good sealer, (can be a semi perm., Ferro FS10) and then good old high-temp paste wax. (my customers get good results with both Ferro FR16 and Meguiar 87)

No release problems, no gelcoat application problems
