Hello friends, I have a question, In gel coating a small two part mold, (its a box style thing with about 23" long by 16" wide, the bottom is open and glassing will not be an issue,) however should I gel coat the two halves with the flange taped off, then touch them up when they are connected? wet of coures , this seems to be the best Idea I can come up with?

bolt the mold together and do it in one piece.

Yes, bolt the two halves together, and if there is a mould line at the join when you release the two halves, some light wet and dry sanding will remove the line,
