| Restoration Project: Adding Weight to Level Trim I have an older 19' fiberglass skiff (Midland) that I am restoring with the help of a professional boat builder. We have added a new outboard (Honda 90) and a console (battery location) and under seat gas tank (midship). We took the boat to a local pond and trial floated it today. After moving around the gas tank (full) and console, it seems that we need to add weight to the bow area to get the boat level. We are thinking of adding lead weight in the bilge area in the bow. The original specs indicate that it can handle the weight of the Honda. Anyone else deal with a similar problem" Suggestions? Thank-you |

lus it dangerous as without quick bow lift you could have a wave come over the front and filling the boat with tons of water , once one wave comes in ,the next and the next untill it is full and sinking !! dont do it !! At rest the bow should look up anyway . its at speed you need to use the power trim to do your leveling . ![]() Boat on the water with one person in the driving possition should has approx 3 to 4 Dregress of angle of attack or slightly more when planing at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle .
