Replacing wood floor in boat????

My boat is in great need of a floor replacement. i bought the bought for a summer project because i am all about learning something new every summer. The boat is a 1977 Larson with a 175 hp johnson. While standing in it, my leg went through the floor. the damage came from water leaking through a hole in the boat cover. I believe that the the damage is isolated to that area. i am going the replace it with wood since that is what is already there and i am going to put in some carpet.

any ideas or pointers?? i am completely new to this kind of work.

after the floor is layed, how should it be sealed?

thank you
