Replacing a fiberglass floor

I know this isn't exactly boat building, but we're trying to replace an entire floor

I'm posting this for my fiance's uncle.

He as a small fishing boat that he has had for several years.
It is a 1970 Delhi Mfg. 15-14 STD. HIN# D0006M73E

Over the past few years he has noticed the boat has been getting heavier. He recently ripped out the floor and found all the foam was literally dripping wet (removed about 170# of foam, and another 200# of wet plywood).

He plans to replace the foam and plywood. But has a couple question about re-fiber-glassing the floor.

What is the best fiberglass to use (thickness) He's noticed that he can buy several different types and several different thicknesses. Is it something can get at Lowe's or Home Depot or is he better off ordering online from a boat store?

What type of resin should he use? Epoxy or Poly (and why...if you wouldn't mind explaining)

How many layers of fiberglass should he use?

ANY input would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If plywood, one layer of 1708. If foam, two. Epoxy either way. (IMO)

Thanks guys.

Is there any specific type of tape he should be using with that specific fiberglass?

Just want to get this straight so he can get to work sometime this week....

So, after he puts the plywood down, he has the 2 part liquid expanding foam. Then after that is done, I have him apply 2 layers of 1708 glass with the epoxy resin?
