| PVC Core Question I just visited my boat builder and noticed that my rod holders were being installed without any caulk. The foreman said that the drilled holes for the rod holders do not need to be sealed because the cap is cored PVC . Is this true? The material is still a foam and I thought it should be sealed. Thank you in advance for the help. |

| Most would seal it anyway. Water cannot help in there.

| They really should be sealed but I think what the foreman of the shop was implying is that the core won't rot like balsa core and is therefore a step up from the balsa. No matter what though you want to keep your laminate as dry as possible so ask them to seal em up! |
