I recently finished building a hartop for a 26'er searay express. I sanded, and sanded..then sanded more.. well you get the idea. It was pretty tough. After 5 gallons of polyester resin and 3 gallons of Bondos, I looked in to getting a framing material with aluminum. OUCH. Lot more than I had budgeted for. So, I started unscrewing the aluminium windshield and now the windshield is off of my boat. I was surprised to see that only about a dozen of 2" SS screws were the only thing that was holding it in place--along with silicone of course.
Question: My top weighs about 80 lbs that is about 8'x9' which is slightly larger than the current width of the windshield. The new proposed height for the pilothouse is about 4' tall with the width of 7.5'. What is the best way to mount glassed 0.5" plywood in about an 85 degrees angle. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I just started taking off my windshield tonite, so I will post some pics tomorrow, but for now, I have this picture of my boat. Thanks again.
