| No foam under stringers ??? After making the decission to re power my 23ft Carribean crusader, built by international marine, it came to my attention that when the motor was removed it would be a good idea to replace the stringers and engine mounts, as they were pretty much stuffed. After reading endless threads on this topic, all advice is to put foam under the stringers. The original stringers have no foam under them. So my question is to use or not to use ! Should the stringers be glassed all over and epoxied to floor, then glassed aswell ? Thnaks for any help or advise. |

| your original stringers were probably made in a mold and then glued in. The foam used in stringers is mostly non structural and is only used as a former for structural laminate made up of biax and uni-directional layers. using foam would probably be easier as you will something to lay up over with out the need for mold making |

| the stringers are all timber, or what is left of them. because they have badly rotted its hard to tell if they were actually connected to the floor or had glass laid over them holding them to the floor. |

| it dont matter if they were or not,,,they NEED to be glass from hull, up over, and back to hull. in fact the last few post on that link deal with that.
