| Need help with OMC control cables!!!!! I have a 1977 V4 Johnson 140 that I am attempting to change the controls from a side-mount set-up to a binnacle set-up on a console. I currently have the old type '400' cable run. I was hoping to keep this cable, and hook a new top-mount set of controls up to them. Since I cannot find a binnacle control compatible with the older '400' style cable, I am looking into switching over to the newer '479' style cable . I have been told by two dealers they are interchangable.. This sounds fishy to me . Has anybody ever switched thier cables, or had a similiar experience? This is the last part of my boat project (getting the controls mounted), and I can't find anyone that could give me advice on what to do. If I CAN change my cabling over to the '479' type cable then I am home free.. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! thx Shane |

| Figured it out.. Talked to a guy who has worked on Johnsons forever, and he confirmed that the only difference between the two type Johson cables is at the control end of the cable. All I have to do now is find a binnacle style control and I'm done!!! |
