Need boat builder for documentary!

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. I work for a documentary film company and we are producing a show for National Geographic. We are filming a recreation of a catamaran that capsized, trapping passengers in the cabin. As we won't be able to flip a real catmaran, we'd like to build just a section of one (with the cabin part). Something that is durable, floats, and would mimic part of a real catamaran. We are looking for boat builders who could design and build something like this in a short time.

Our shoot is the week of August 16 near Harrisburg, PA. Ideally we'd love to find someone in the area around Baltimore/NYC/Harrisburg area that could build this for us. We don't have a huge budget but would negotiate accordinglly with the builder.

I welcome any ideas and suggestions for contacts. I can be reached at:

I know, it's a short period of time to do any kind of building, let alone boat building. But we really only need a small section of the "boat" to float on the water. Nothing intricate, nothing fancy, just a small section that mimic the cabin that we could rest on the water. There are ways to do anything so I'm sure something could be created.

Lets see, don't have a lot of money, don't have a lot of time so it's a rush job of an incomplete boat.

Run down to the local boat bone yard and pick up one of the thousands of cat's and tri's that were built back in the building boom of the 70's and make some repairs and modifications to suit your needs. They'll have their polyester skins hanging like limp rags off their flanks, but the plywood construction should be easy enough to patch with lick-em and stick-em techniques that regular stage hands should be familiar with. Or hire a boat builder to slap on a quick, doesn't need to float for long fix . . .

I was curious to know if our low funded and even lower time frame friend found someone to come up with the pretense sinking ship idea?
