Need advise on repairing my Fiberglass boat hull. Newbie, but willing to learn

Hi All,

Please bare with me while I try to explain my problem. I am a complete newbie to Fiberglass repairing but I'm willing to take on this project because I just don't have the $3200 dollars wanted to repair the hull. I tried the cheap way out by having a mom and pop outfit fix my boat and they made a mess of the hull as you see from the picture below. Yes, I'm in the process of getting my money returned for the repair.

My question is...How can I created a mold of the damaged firberglass area which happens to be in a rib under the boat for use when I remove the damaged Fiberglass area? Should I go over this area first with bondo to form the correct contour before creating the mold? Again, I completely new to this but I'm willing to listen and learn and pass information back and fourth as needed.

Gonna need a lot more information here. Tell us the whole story, starting with what kind of boat it is, where the damage is, what the damage is, how it was damaged, what the mom and pop outfit did, what's wrong with their work and take several pictures. Then we might be able to help, but right now there is just not enough information.

Lets assume your repair estimate is mostly labor, say a full 2/3's, what was the original $1,000 worth of materials and why was it necessary?

If my post seems a little pissy, I apologize. I didn't mean to be harsh in any way. It's just that with more info we can help out greatly. $3200.00 seems like a pretty large repair so I'm assuming the damage was extensive so we might need a lot of info on how to procede.
