Modify swing keel to fixed keel

Hi Group

I am going to look at a 26 ft Balboa Sailboat for sail that has had the swing keel changed to a fixed keel. Has anyone heard of doing that and was it a horror show ?

The current owner said that it was done before he bought it but it looks like a professional job to him and he saw no cracks. Pulling the boat out of the water next week to see for myself.
