Looking for suggestions for hull support. I have a 14 ft. (Lone Star) bare hull and need to know if I should put stiffeners from stern to bow or across the beam or both? I am new to this.

What are you trying to do? Typically, both athwart stiffeners (bulkheads, floors, sole support structure and others) and longitudinal stiffeners (stringers, engine bearers, etc.) comprise the structure under the decking (sole) and they are engineered to meet the requirements of the design. Tankage (maybe not an issue in your boat) drainage, plumbing, electrical, floatation, engine mounts if I/O and a number of other issues come up while designing the structure you're asking about. A number of legal points need be addressed and safety issues dealt with, before you can start 'glassing her in, be that a simple decking area filling the cockpit or more elaborate built-in helm seating, storage, lockers, ceilings (not a head liner), etc. What are you trying to do?

I am putting decking and seats in cockpit area. I am concerned because I do not know the original design because it was mostly gutted when I got it. I was going to put both stiffeners in and fill the open areas with expanding foam. After that, put in mahogany decking and seats.
