Not a bad article, but very much geared towards "we sell it" instead of "this works".

Talking about speeding up infusion, the main focus in the article is on products that speed up the actual infusion. However, infusion time is not relevant at all (within limits) unless you plan on using the same mould more than once per day.

Key is in the organisation around the infusion. That is where the true laber and costs are.

Also mentioned is the Colbond alternative to spiral wrap. The Colbond material is a great product, leaving almost no imprint in the laminate, but keep in mind that flow is about 50% compared to 3/8" id spiral wrap.
I usually take the Colbond material for the fish-bones ("Dutch style" infusion) and spiral for the main runner.

All in all a nice article where the author, unfortunately, loses its focus every now and then.

For the source of Soric: www.lantor.nl (choose composites)

Would be nice if there was a stand alone resin infusion workshop thread on Boatdesign net. Ive always wonder how resin infusion would work for a small time...one boat builder. Must be many tricks of the trade applicable to small time builders or people like me, who simply want to understand the intricacy's of the process.

I am working on a file which explains a lot. 107 pages, and counting. Probably another 2 weeks before it is ready to publish.

Thanks for the link Allan.. great thread, Im still trying to understand and visualize its contents. . . it would also be great if many small time builders chipped in with ideas on a RESIN INFUSION ONLY category in the boat design net boat building section. Infusion is THE production technique and its a big topic. . How little guys get on with it..their mistakes, challenges and home built innovations would be a valuable category ..

Herman,

Are you planning on posting your 107 page doc. Here? I am hoping so.

Michael, Why do't you start thread Vacuum Infusion for beginners?

Ask a punch of questions. Get a bunch of answers back
