Hull shapes

A newbie in Boat design, with previous aerospace and mechanical engineering background in polymer composites.

With your assistance I wish to be able design a power efficient boat 10 meters length in fiberglass PU foam sandwich for fishing either by rowing/sail or by motor power.

I propose to make a 1/6 model by running hollow PVC pipes as longerons with holes into which U shaped hull longitudinal steel sections are driven, making a bent tubular frame/shell model. Later on, I propose to fill in the interstitial spaces with PUfoam and cover on either side by chopped strand mat and/or fiberglass woven roving cloth skins.

Right now I think that a proper shape definition of a strong hull is important to ensure stability and to minimize hydrodynamic resistance as stiffness and strength already come from choice of a sandwich construction as above. One feels the hull shapes must have been perfected over several centuries and are now available along scientific lines mentioned in textbooks of Naval architecture.

Please suggest optimal Length / Depth / Width ratios and mathematical equations of doubly curved surface of hulls. The boat middle has positive double (Gaussian) curvature for carrying load and negative double curvature at bow/stern to cut through water with minimum resistance. An equation for one such a (half) hull I can think of ( programmable on Mathematica code) is:
L = 10; d = 2; depth = 2; Plot3D[-depth *Sin [Pi z/L]* Cos [Pi y/2d]^2, {z, 0, L}, {y, 0, d/4}, AspectRatio -> Automatic];

There should a wide variety of hull shapes to choose from depending on several factors and please let me know where to found them on net. To decide on hull skin and core thickness, what safety factor X water pressure is to be taken into account? what are drag factors? Or, is there a marine design code as applicable or common/general laminate design practice?

After hull shape choice, shell design and construction of boats are standard power/speed ratings for out/in board motors that match the size and profile available? Are some designs available that include certification of seaworthiness and safety as a package?

Thanks in anticipation, Narasimham

I don't mean to be rude, but I do think you should read some books on the subject and try a demo version of some popular yacht design software.
