Help : Water Drainage

I am rebuilding a 1989 Renken 2000 Classic and have a rather stupid question (first of many). This is my first boat project and am doing fairly well considering. My question is this: is the water that collects from items thrown into the bow storage areas supposed to drain into the belowdecks storage area and if so, is the water supposed to drain from there into the space below the engine? I can see one hole each drilled in the lowest corners of the bow storage areas, but cannot tell if they lead into the belowdecks storage. Likewise, I can't see a hole in the rear of the belowdecks storage for that water to escape? please help!

You can always squirt some water in and see what happens. Sam

There's no such thing as a stupid question.

Try just putting some water in and see where it goes. I'd note that the engine room is supposed to have either a separate bilge, or a pan under the engine, so that oil etc. that leaks can't get squirted overboard by the bilge pump.
On that note, I highly recommend buying a second, ultra-high-flow-rate bilge pump in addition to the usual one. If you ever get a leak you'll be very glad you spent the extra $200.

haven't tried putting water in there yet, just pulled up the decking in front of the engine and saw how soaked and rotten some stringers and foam are, so not very keen on making it worse. as far as the bilge goes, there appears to be just one area directly underneath the engine that catches everything, water/oil/etc. I'm thinking now that I've seen I have to tear up some of the decking, and if the front storage does drain into the belowdecks storage, then maybe I can lay some pvc hose or piping from the below decks storage straight into the bilge. would be nice and neat i think. what do you think?
