Help with a core printing issue...please

I suddenly have a problem with a seat we have layed up successfully many times. We corebond 1/2" balsa to the inside for stiffness with two additional layers of biweave. Now I have something showing through the gel. The area where there is balsa the gel flat and beautiful. At its edge it falls away and is not as nice a finish. Using Vinyester and E-glass. Never seen it before?

Any ideas?
