Epoxy question

Is a chemical paint remover will remove the epoxy?
The epoxy is on top of plywood.
Thank you
Lister

Probably not. You might be able to use a chisel to remove globs on plywood, but I don't know of anything that will remove it other than sandpaper, a chisel, a heat gun can accelerate the process... But the things that make epoxy suck a great structural material also make it a PITA to remove.

Thank you stumble. I appreciate.
Now I know that I have to sweat to take apart that epoxy.

A belt sander or grinder may work too, if you are steady with them. 36 or 24 grit.

I have a belt sander, and I am a strong person. I will try.

Dont burn up your boat...but...epoxy has a low melting temp . Give a hot gun and a sharp scraper a go. Soften the epoxy then scrap off ,then sand.

Agreed... remove most of the epoxy with heat and a scraper. Sanding will be much easier afterwards. Make sure you wear a good respirator, have decent ventilation and wear long sleeves, long pants and some gloves...that dust gets everywhere.
