| Dry pigments (powder) can be used in either resin. They are available from your local paint supply store. |

| Paste type pigments are resin-specific. Epoxy paste pigments are usually powder pigments, dispersed in a drop of epoxy resin. Polyester paste pigments are usually powder pigments, dispersed in either polyester resin or styrene, or even another carbo-hydroxen based resin. The 2 should not be mixed up. However, when I was working in the epoxy flooring industry, we SOMETIMES used polyester pigments if epoxy pigments were not available (only at very specific colours. Who wants a purple floor anyway...) However we sometimes noticed some colour drift, not nice if it is a big floor... The other way round (epoxy pigment in polyester resin) is something that I definately do NOT recommend. (possibility of cure inhibition) Make tests if in doubt!!! |
