| wow !! you sure going to have to know what you are doing when you start to make the boats . Long and slender !!!!with all those speed bumps and steps and strakes etc etc theres a million places where it could and will simply crack and possibly break . i hope you have a good frame system for the inside to hold all those panels from bending . Is it having tubes round the gunwhale ??? Outboards ?? how many ?? or inboards with surface drives ?? or legs ?? what kind of Horse power in total ?? What sort of speed you hoping for ?? My advice is to build the first boat out of all glass first off and use vinylester resin throughout the whole construction . With all those sharp corners and places etc etc it going to be slow going thats for sure . Glass is more forgiving and cheaper and you will have a chance to workout your construction schedualing for your carbon as you go along !! The key to making this baby hold together will be your internal grid frame system and how its fitted and how its fixed in place . I wish i was closer id love to keep a eye on progress over time !!!!

| tunnels Will definitely use it because ethylene-vinyl so I will have lighter construction. And I really wanted you to be near to see the completion of the project. But even so there will be update. Now. The motor that will hang are two outboard 300 horsepower V8 and I think it will reach 85 knots. Do not you find it strange because here in GREECE we have boats that take these speeds. Forgot be R.I.Β

I hope the third man will watch over you and if you have family you have good insurance for them !!. I used to make R,I,Bs and did development work for the company making rescue craft not that fast but able to take any kind of weather, anytime of the year . Keep up the good work and keep posting as you progress !!

| With carbon fibre, an epoxy resin will be needed as it will bond, whereas polyesters will not. Kevlar will not bond or perform well unless pre-primed. Du Pont supply primed versions, although for your application, I would agree with landlubber in that kevlar is superfluous. |

| OOOPS you dont know about resins ??? oh my God !!!! Ok lets Talk basics !! Poly ester is the bottom of the resin pile its the basic to make almost anything from its the lowest priced and plentiful . Dont get me wrong there nothing wrong with poly . Next up the scale is vinylester , its the best of the ester resins has excilent properties and like i suggested you use it to make a glass boat first . The same resin could also be used for Carbon as well . Top of the pile is Epoxy if you are going to use carbon and Kevlar this is nessasary as Kevlar had enought strength to pull out of the other resins . Not over yet !! With each of the resin systems are many many differant types for a huge array of applications . Dont know if you noticed a tread chating about toughen epoxy a while back Dont just take one resin and think it is the only one ,you have to ask and do your home work to find the best one suited for your particular application . Have you thought of infusion ?? to get what you are looking for i feel dare i say it it could be the best method high tech so to speak but because of the shapes of your boat it could give you the best results . On the road to building this boat you are standing at the bottom of a huge mountain of knowledge and learning and havent really taken the first step on your way yet . Please save your self a lot of trouble and say if you dont know !!!ask !! ![]() This is a wonderful site and there are so many professional people that read and post here to help . We are all here to help !!! ![]() Over the many years i have never taken things at face value , the resin and glass supplyer is there to make money and will sell any one any thing , good or bad doesnt really care!! you need to take a step and get to know a chemist with in the resin company and ask simply what is best suited for you application . these people are a maze of knowedge and can be so so helpfull with making resins to suit you liking and way of working . not to fast not to slow tough and yet workable . The chemist can give you all those things not the supplyer standing behind the counter .
