boat width

i own a the moulds for a 16' small fishing boat. the question is Can i make the hull wider and slightly longer, without messing up the way it performs? I think it will make it more stable, or maybe am wrong....

What is the present width.
Is it a split mould? Then you can keep it apart at center and add with in the middle in full length.The ends are to be shaped.
