| Boat Floor Method I have a 15 foot runabout that has the floor removed due to rot, all stringers and transom have been replaced. The hull is fibreglass and what I am wondering is: Can the floor be replaced in two sections rather that the one piece that was taken out without causing any serious structural problems in the future? Is there a method to this? The reason why I am asking is that I can't seem to locate any plywood that is 6 foot by eight foot to do it in one piece??? Any advice/suggestions with this would be more than welcomed. Thanks Jim |

| Custom width plywood isn't necessary and is very expensive. You can piece in the sole (floor) sections, as I'm sure was done originally. The seams will need to be addressed, but this is all part of the process. Layout the pieces in a logical fashion, so you can have room to work and not goo yourself into a corner (literally). Use as larger of pieces that you feel comfortable handling, or the shapes will permit. Use the search tool on this site. There are hundreds of previous posts about sole replacement with much advise you can gather in your leisure. |
