ballast weight?

Is there a calculation for working out ballast requirements in boats, I have a 25ft Viking thats very skittish and think that either more ballast or re positioning the present ballast might help? Anyone with 1st hand experience of this problem?

No, there are no simple rules. Racing sailboats may have up to 60% while modern cruisers have 25% or less. I don't know your boat, but on a powerboat you may add some bilge keels to minimize rolling.

thanks, I was afraid of that, I may have to resort to trial and error, engine is large in relation to size of boat so I may think about moving weight forward or back and see how that helps
