On a bay boat, how far below the center of the boat is the prop to be located (in water)? Dallas

Its a fiberglass boat.....factory name ????. 8' wide 26' long.

Was it designed as a power boat or a sail boat? does it have a transom cut-out for an outboard motor ? did it at some time have an inboard engine and a though the stern drive? or does it have a hole in the bottom for a propeller shaft? Was it fitted with seats and oarlocks? what bay are you thinking about? Galvaston bay? something smaller? something larger? When you speak of 125 force prop, what are you referring to?

The prop needs to be deep enough to not ventilate when running at speed. The engine is heavy enough to require hoisting equipment, so I would think that the dealer would be able to give the best advise. The lower units on outboard engines are pretty standard with some variation. The boat manufacturer knows this and makes the cutout accordingly. I doubt that you have cause for great concern here. If you were trying to optimize this for speed then the problem would require some very care full study. Do you plan to self install?
