Trolling Motor Harness

What are builders typically installing for trolling motor wiring? What gauge? How many wires?

The Minn Kota wants you to connect the batteries in series and then run two wires to the motor.

I believe the Motor Guide unit uses a hot lead from each battery and one ground wire.

Naturally device amperage and the length of the run determine wire guage. We use 6 gauge.

We install the harness and plug and the customer installs the trolling motor of his preference. So it's hard to cover all possible scenarios. What are other builders doing?
