Sterio Help

Hi folks, I hope someone here can help me or point me in the right direction. I recently bought a Rinker captiva 190 (1994) from my wifes cousin. He had pulled out the old radio and purchased a new pioneer car radio cd player etc to put in the boat. He never got it wired before I picked it up but looks like he started. I know about enough to get my self in trouble. Can some one help me out and tell me how to wire this thing up so I can get it working? There is a harness coming out where the old radio used to be with wires red, black, I yellow tied to green, purple and white. I have no idea what is what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no standard wire color code for stereos. The new one comes with a wiring diagram. The red and black are power. The other are probably for speakers, but you'll have to trace them back and also check the polarity.

Also an "accessory power" source for lighting which will often read as ground -- careful with that one.

Go to http://www.pioneerelectronics.com
In the search box at top, enter " Car stereo installation "
Select the model number of your stereo from the list that results.
You will need to register with Pioneer (about 1 minute); once you have, you can download the manual and installation wiring diagrams from their site.
