| Sea Water Cooled Ice Maker and guts for a built-in freezer? I'm involved in a catamaran project and have designed electrical system for this boat. The boat has electric propulsion and plenty of excess electricity which will be used to power various appliances. One of the appliances is an 20,000BTU A/C chiller which comes as sea water cooled. I like the idea of not having hot air being blown into the boat and was wondering if someone knows a brand of a small ice maker (such as popeluar Raritan) but water, rather than air cooled. Or perfhaps we could put one together ourseleves in a custom fiberglass box if the part kit was available? Also looking for a source of similar (water cooled) cooler part kit to fit inside a custom freezer box (approx 4 cubic ft). They can be 120VAC powered. Any hints will be appreciated. Thanks Michal, www.electriccatamaran.com |

| If the chiller is sea water cooled, where does the hot air come from?

| Eskimo Ice makes an Ice maker that is raw water cooled. It produces up to 600lbs of freshwater ice per day |

| Keel coolers for refrigerant gas are much better. IMHO any refrigeration system that does not use keel coolers is now obsolete. These do away with the whole mess of circulating water in the boat. Check www.veco.net Unfortunately they are still not available in sizes big enough to use with Air Conditioners, but that should soon come. |

| How do you propose to install keel coolers in fiberglass boats?

| Why not build a box around the fridge's cooling system and pump water through that. It's only a heat-exchanger!! Tim B.

| the u,line icemakers are just a freezer with an icemaker unit screwed to the evaperator. just conect up a thermostat and a water solonoid valve and you have instant ice from your freezer. the whole icemaker unit as a replacement is only a couple of hundred buck. bazza. |
