ocean engineering?

Could a BS degree in Ocean Engineering lead to a career in naval architecture? Im here in FL and i have two colleges close to me that offer it? Here is a discription from one of the college's info pack:

"Opportunities exist for Ocean Engineers in the private, educational, corporate, and governmental sectors. Some career areas to consider are: Offshore Oil Recovery, Marine metals and corrosion, Environmental Protection, Global Climate Monitoring, Renewable Energy, Underwater Vehicles, Remote Sensing, Marine Transportation, or Naval Architecture and Defense."

Any help would be great and thanks in advance!

I've worked with many FL ocean engineers working as NAs in both offshore oil and in conventional shipyards and design offices. Both of these schools seem to have good programs.

You should plan on going through the SNAME annual meeting (the expo at least) in October, in Fort Lauderdale - http://www.sname.org to get a look at the industry.
