What's a GPS? can it make the coffee?

Remember BP tankers are largish vessels (the ones I was on were) and have mains electricity don't fail as often as 12 volt stuff - nor as close to the water (which helps the failure rate)

Coffee? Walrus ? This thread is for 'navigating the old ways'...and coffee surely has no place in 'old ways'...Tea at a pinch - but more likely ale, 'geneva', or watered rum....So the question wouldn't arise

Perhaps not a GPS - but a news item today on Australian national news records that when members of a Royal Australian Navy boarding party clambered onto an Iranian gunboat and confiscated a crewmember's i-Pod - he burst into tears... Would never have happened in Nelson's day.

True. In Nelson's day he would have been flogged with the ear buds (cat 'o two tails).

Further to the above tidbit - it seems (according to a RAN spokesman) that the Iranians also tried to board an Aussie vessel (much as they did the Brits) but, and I quote: "They were driven off with the use of colourful language...."

Perhaps: "Throw another sheik on the barbie......"?
