| MIT for free Many of those that visit here are looking for online resources to learning more about boats. This may be old news to some of you but I just learned of it, MIT has many of its courses available for download for free. A motivated self learner can gain a lot, the only return for your work is knowledge but isn’t that the idea. Looking through the list I found courses on yacht design, hydrostatics, propellers, and many more. http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html Gary ![]()

| Very, very nice. I downloaded a couple of courses, haven't gotten them to work yet. Unzip, and then what? I click on the html thingy, and I get the course syllabus page on my own computer. I will mess around more later, but a great contribution, Thanks, Mike |

| I still can't get the course to "start". I just get a mess of files uncompressed, and it tells you in the readme.txt to click on the .html file for that particular course. I do that, and the same exact web page opens that I downloaded the course from, but stored on my hard drive instead of the web. I'm looking for some button that says "start", or "go", "begin", or even "git yerself some learnin' " or something of that nature. Any of you smarter folks got this figured out yet? Mike |

| I downloaded a course and extracted the files, they seem a bit disorganized but I had no trouble opening them.

| Wow! That's a great resource, it definitely warrants a thank you. So, yeah, thanks Gary! Now maybe I can become a professional student. I just have to figure out what to start with.. boat designer or rocket scientist? Hmm.
