details of MSc from UK hey guys, I'm new to this forum, and like any newbie I have come here seeking a help, I'm right now going to complete my undergraduation in marine engineering from an Indian university , I'm interested in pursuing an MSc in naval architecture or in offshore structure. As new visa rules have sprung up I do not want to opt UK as I will have no job opportunity, and for various reasons I dont wanna go to the US, which universities from other parts of the world offer MSc as my interest stated above and if i do go to UK, will i be able to get job in the country, I am very confused right now. Please help, Thanks in advance.

Contact Memorial University Newfoundland--Don't know if they are offering what you need but they are one of the foremost in dealing with alot of marine related educational programs as a result of the fishing and the offshore oil industry. If not they certainly can steer you in the right direction---Geo.

| There are a lot more options outside UK and US for you. Technical University of Lisbon is such an option, cheap and good. KTH, Chalmers etc too gives courses but are way too expensive. If you can afford it, better it be.

You could also try TU Delft in Netherlands, or NTU Trondheim, Norway. Both with excellent reputations.

The University of Auckland has just started it's new course, Master of Engineering Studies in Yacht Engineering. I am a student in it's first intake (with 4 people total!). It's a 1 year (2 semester full time course). It is slightly heavier towards sailing yachts, however there is naval architecture course as well as CFD, structures and composites, design as well as aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. There is also a significant project (3/8ths of a year) of which you have significant freedom to focus on a particular aspect of interest to you. In the design module we have a many field trips to superyacht building companies as well. The University of Auckland Twisted Flow Wind Tunnel is world renowned and New Zealand is consider to many as the hub of sailing. I'm doing the course for the range of subject areas related to the marine field, and not that much of a sailor, but I do not see that as an issue. http://www.engineering.auckland.ac.nz/uoa/mengst-yacht
