Compare Hp to gearbox to drive

hi ive got this project where i have a list of

planning Hulls from 8 metres through to 14

also displacement hulls and semi displacement hulls 8 metres through to 14 m again

with HP ratios

60 hp 3000 rpm
70 hp 3200 rpm
90 hp 3200 rpm

up to

600 hp 3200 rpm

with gear box ratios

1x1
1.5x1
2x1
2.5x1
3x1
3.5x1

also engine drives

shaft drive
stern drive
jet drive
surface drive
hydralic drive

im doing a hell of a lot of research on the individual components but if anyone could give me an explanation of these components interdependencies:-)

we have to match hull length and type with engine mount, Hp and a gear box ratio :-), explanations of why and or links is very appreciated :-)
