Hi my name is anthony and i come from greece.I hold a physics degree(4 year) and i 'm intresting in getting into naval architecture.Is it posible for me to pursue a career in marine industry after attending a postgraduate course such as UCL's naval architecture or marine engineering?

Yes absolutely. Prospective employers are likely to favour the fact that you have a good understanding of the underlying principals and expertise in areas beyond normal naval architecture.

A physics degree will be a perfect background – you will have no problems on the course. If you are looking to study in the UK, I believe the UCL course concentrates mainly on the defence sector (warships and submarines), where Newcastle and Southampton have more of a commercial bias. That is not to say that you can’t find work in any field, but the learning experience will be more biased in one direction or another. Speaking from experience, there were at least as many Greeks studying Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering at Newcastle as there were Brits.
