STIHL FS420 Brush saw conversion too outboard

Here are some pic of my out board about 2.5hp I think. Works great. Some of the parts I used are a head off of a dewalt angle grinder for my gearing and I also had too source a seal too keep it water tight thank you all balls racing. I also adapted a lawn mower tank because the orginal was too small. The clamps came off of an eveinrude and other than that the rest is orginal.

Nicely done! Can you share any more info on how you adaptable the angle grinder to be your gearing?

Well thanks for the reply Too seal the shaft too the housing I mesured the clearances I had inside and the shaft diameter and ordered the seat too fit from allballs racing luckily dewalt leves room in the grinder head for this.Also I had too remove 5mm from the ring gear to make some extra room. The head is aluminum welded too the brush saw shaft tube and the shaft of the saw fitted with a pin too spin the pinion gear. The rest of the fot is just fiber glass for the ball look and the fin. The shaft extition consist of th angle grnder orginal shaft using the disc nut I welded a bolt too it keeping it streight and then threaded the nut on too the angle grinder shaft and welded that too. Also I used some slicone too seal the face plate too the heat of the grinder and left it acessable for service.

For most of us it would be easier to use the entire lower unit and gearbox from a defunct outboard and just adapt the power head.
