Marinizing XUD11 turbo diesel

I'm currently marinizing XUD11 TD (Bosh pump), fresh water cooling. Now I need to decide how to cool the intercooler (aliuminum) - with raw water or engine coolant? Outbord water would offer lower temperature, but may clog and corrode intercooler. How it's in other turbo cooling installations?
Thank you for your help.

Using engine coolant would raise the air temp instead of lowering it, so that is not an option.

Clogging is no problem if your water inlet has a mesh, slits or other coarse filter, but corrosion is a real threat for the thin aluminum walls. The only thing you can do against it is make sure that the intercooler is not in contact with any metal parts of the engine or plumbing by using heat resistant plastic rings and bushings.

CDK,
have you used the cutout switch in your marinization? Will mercuiser alpha cutout switch be ok to hold Boch fuel pump selenoid current or i should use additional relay to control selenoid?

As far as I know the Merc switch is normally open; it shorts the ignition breaker contacts or their electronic equivalent.
What you need is a normally closed switch with the same dimensions. That shouldn't be too hard, to me it looks like a std size Honeywell limit switch. The lever with roller is one of the most popular types in the machine industry.
