Manta-Kota

First post for me here. I found this site by searching for a prop for my redneck homemade boat motor. I used a Mantis Tiller power head for the engine. I had bought an old Minn Kota trolling motor at an auction awhile back. I used the lower end of this and combined these two and came up with this. I still don't know what type of prop to get. I did find an original prop that the trolling motor used on line for around 20 bucks. The Mantis motor will turn the prop counter clockwise. I have the high side on the carb set to where it's turning around 9500 RPM which gives it a sweet little burble. I really don't even need this, or know if it will even push a boat, canoe. This little motor is only around 22 cc, but it sure will eat some dirt while using it as a tiller. I may have wasted the 1-1/2 hours it took to mount this engine up to the lower end. Do you think this will work as a boat motor. I do know that I will not be breaking any speed records . The only boat I have is a 12' jon boat that gets little use. What got me on this project was at the same auction I got the trolling motor I also bought a little Sears 1.2 motor air cooled 2 stoke engine. That gave me the idea to make this project. I don't know much about boat motors, but I have been repairing, restoring old chainsaws for the last 25 years and do know a little that makes a 2 cycles work.

You should visit weedeater engine conversion thread. You will find lots of info on this size of rig.
