| De-Marinizing just after glancing through these threads i it looks like the answer to my question is yes but ill ask it anyway. if you can do it one way you can reverse the process no? Ive got a 1988 Chapparal give or take a couple years with a 7.4 litre v8...i want the engine in my truck...there's no reason i cant pull it from the boat and plop it in is there is there? |

| Problem, ONLY if the owner lives in Metro Phoenix or Tucson AND is required to take and then fails the Emission Tests. |

Like it or not, the air is cleaner than it used to be. Condoning or encouraging backwards steps will only increase the problem. The last time I checked the cost of a EPA certification run was over $30,000. If the engine swap results in lower emissions fine, if it does not then it should not be allowed. Our grandchildren will be breathing that air.

I said it is cleaner than it once was. I should have used wording that could not be misunderstood. Did you mean dilemma and emisions? ![]()

| Man if you gonna bang me for spelling on a quick thing like this I hate to see you TXT message. Do you think you are l33t? As far as de-marinizing, anything that makes a car engine a marine engine can be reversed. Question as always: is it cost effective? You can probably get a junk yard engine cheap and get all the stuff you need. Many, many years ago I work for the local government as an emision tech. What a joke. They still after all these years look under the gas cap to make sure you didn't punch it out to use leaded fuel. The techs don't even know why they do it and some are so young they have never seen leaded fuel. |

| I had my "smog license" in California. I know exactly what you're talking about! Many of the "techs" are wrench turners and parts changers, with no concept of how the engine works. Once I was off the line and wearing a damn tie to work, I had a licensed tech come ask for help to get a car running right. I asked him about the primary pattern and why the dwell was wrong, he had never seen a set of points before. I figure if you can bust my chops over a choice of words, I can tease you back over spelling. ![]() |

| What year is the truck? That will determine if a marine engine, that produces more HP, can be run legally.

| Federal Law requires a minimum of polution control equipment per manufactured year. The States can increase the controls; California for example. It is illegal to tamper or remove polution controls.

| you could of course not give a damn... or just use it as a drag truck on strips only. I like the reversal of the normal flow... everyone is carrying on about putting road vehicle motors into boats, not the other way around. ![]() |
