VolksWagen TDI 225-6 diesel price?

Hi there I performed a search before posting this thread. I'm very curious to know how much the VW marine TDI 225-6 sells for? Apparently this thing is a 200 HP 450 ft-lbs engine, guaranteed 2 years unlimited hours, all in a compact 715 lbs package, matched will the fuel economy that can be expected from a diesel. It just sounds like it would be super expensive. My guess would be in the $20000 US range. Anybody have any ideas?

Ask this lot - found at - http://www.docksideonline.com/view.cgi?id=153 - Ring Power of Riverview, Florida, was named as the North American distributor, and about a half-dozen other dealerships were brought on line, including two in California: Quinn Power Systems in City of Industry and Dependable Marine in San Diego.

more info from Germany: Using the Audi 6-cylinder 3 litre engine Volkswagen Marine has developed the TDI 225-6 with its 225 hp (165 kW) output. The remarkable thing about this vessel is that as well as the amazingly low emissions and running costs it is remarkably quiet at all speeds. Even at full speed the noise levels were at 3 decibels - well under the limits set by the EU authorities.
The piezo-electrical control for the injection system, as first seen in some of last year's models, is now being used in the basic versions for the luxury end of the market achieving 5 precise and regular injections per combustion. The weight of the engine without gearing or lubricant comes in at 325kg, some 25kg lower than expected.

I knew that ringpower.com was the distributor. I googled the 225-6 tdi and had read somewhere that the VW marine engines were 5-30k but didn't believe the 225-6 would be that much. After going through the rinpower site it looks like the 225-6 is the top of the line, and so I will deduct that it is indeed a $30k motor. All I can say is holy mother you best be putting that thing in a boat that will be running 24/7 for 2 years in order to get your money's worth in reliability and fuel efficiency! Wish I had that kind of money. I'm just looking at options for a mahogany runabout I'm dreaming of building.

I was figuring that you, being states side, could then phone them? Only a minute or so?

With the limited hours a runabout will run in a year a GAS 350 GM would be off the shelf at a low price , especially used to rebuild.

You are absolutely right! Good observation! Now observe the times at which I wrote the messages and you may see that businesses don't normally operate at 4:00 in the morning . Cheers.

Not if I am logged in, it then shows local time at my end. I did not think you would want the price "immediately". I was thinking it would be Sunday where you are anyway. He he he
