| g'day flyinwall yeah looks like a 4-108 ,the numbers stamped into block ,which are in the correct position ,however i can see numbers 07 the rest are covered in paint ,you would need to clean that up for positive identification ,must likely it is a 4-107 .a easy way to see what it is the 4-107 has 7/16 head bolts or studs ,the 4-108 has 1/2 inch .there are 3 engines that are very similar they are 4-99 4-107 4-108 .re the clae they were very popular in the 50s 60s and 70s they had a cone clutch and made a very satisfying noise when put under load there was another similar gear around that time ,but can't think of the name of it ,i have an idea it was made by a firm called Hardman I had one behind a simplex engine, sold it to Jack Pompei of Mordialloc for 200$ over thirty years ago ,alas everything gone now,too bloody old |
