| 6-71 and other engines can eat so much fuel to be worn out. As a 1200rpm Gen set 30,000 hours is not uncommon . 1800rpm . the daily fuel burn will higher and service life lower. In a boat that does not attempt to plane , service life is usually extreme. The fish killers tweak the units to run 450hp with a couple of turbos , 1000 Hours is considered good longevity. And at 60GPH it will eat almost as much fuel as the gensets in its life How the boat is run will determine the life.
