Virtual Yacht Configurator

Hi,

the following project allows a customer to configure his own yacht. Is such an application useful or not? The configurator was developed by students of the University of Dusseldorf. Your opinion counts.

- The application runs on a multi-touch table.
- The customer can exchange components and materials.
- You can projecting images on the boat and paint the surface.
- The system will run at trade shows.

The customer can create his own boat with no special skills.

Sounds almost too good to be true.
What could possibly go wrong?

Leo.

Most car manufacturers use this kind of software for demo purposes on shows and internet, you can change wheels, colours, upholstery etc.. Could be nice marketing tool for production builders. I can see speedboat builders using this selecting wild colour schemes and waterski attributes for example.
